Nationality

Citizens of Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan, along with Indian nationals, can apply in this exam, but for recruitment to IAS and IPS, the candidate must be a citizen of India.

Educational Qualification

The educational qualification required for this exam is graduate in any discipline. No minimum percentage is required in graduation. The only necessary condition is that the graduation degree should be from a government recognized university. The exam is designed so much that individuals from different backgrounds are placed in the playground. There is no benefit to those candidates who have better marks in the degree course, only the matters of civil services examination matter.

Candidates who are in the last year of their graduation course can also apply with the condition that they will reproduce their graduation mark sheet at the time of verification.

Age Criteria

The minimum age of the candidate for this examination should be 21 years. Different maximum age limits have been fixed for different categories. 32 years for general category, 35 years for OBC and 37 years for SC and ST. There is even more relaxation in the disabled category.

Age will be calculated from 1st August of the notification year.

Candidates who have been selected in IAS or IFS, who have appeared in any of the previous examinations and remain members of that service, cannot fill the Civil Services Examination Form again.

Some important facts related to filling the form

While filling the form, the candidate has to fill all the basic information such as name, father’s name, mother’s name etc. The centre for the civil services examination is also to be marked. This exam is conducted simultaneously at different centers in 72 cities of the country.

Another important thing is that candidates will also have to choose an optional subject for the Civil Services Main exam while filling the form. In the notification, one of the 26 optional subjects has to be selected and marked in the form. While filling the form, candidates are also required to fill the medium of their examination. They can take the exam in English along with Hindi in ias preliminary exam.
